Internet friends! How are you! Are you reading? I hope so because I have not read anything other than my Nerds Heart YA books and various volumes of manga so Michelle and I can start slaving away on our co-review. By "slaving away" I mean she is responsible and calm and I am the slacker who is panicking because she decided to run a book tournament and a fanfiction exchange at the same time and then people started defaulting and threw my very precarious schedule off a cliff (yes, there were rocks at the bottom). I also wrote a 23,000 word story and even though I am proud of it the more I look at it the more I am like I HAVE NO TALENT AT ALL AT WRITING I AM KIDDING MYSELF.

Therefore, in the past few weeks I have read two books, and a lot of One Piece, by Eiichrio Oda, who is my favorite storyteller ever, but One Piece is very long and has been running over ten years, and I just finished chapter 552 and cannot talk about it at all because SPOILERS except to point out my mind has been blown to bits by the amounts of awesome this author contains.

ODA I LOVE YOU.

So that's what's been up with me. I had to renew all my library books until September 9th, also. I fail at reading. But I also wrote 23,000 words. Did I mention I wrote 23,000 words? Just in case: I wrote 23,000 words in two weeks. Please forgive me for running out of words for reviews or steam for anything besides working and sleeping and reading my Nerds Heart YA books.

Here are things I found on the internet after I finally got back into the swing. They vary wildly from interesting to rage-inducing! Awesome.

SFSignal: Which books do you think were missing from this year's list of Best Novel finalists? This link, amid lots of rambling from authors, contains some SF folks listing some books they felt were overlooked! It is like a rec list, but not in list form. Please ignore the authors who missed the point and didn't share ANY TITLES, making me surly because way to harsh the buzz of a good rec thread, guys.

Books written by POCs, a list I found here.

BITCH magazine interview with Sara Zarr.

"I don't think I've ever said, 'I'm a feminist,' because I don't have a very good understanding of what that means."

Sigh. Define:feminism. Come on, world. Embrace this mantle so young girls want to own it, too.

Patrick Ness interview. I am a little jealous because I didn't get to it first! Then again, I would have asked radically different questions so it could still be a possibility!

John C. Wright is not having a good day and I don't feel sorry for him at all! Here I thought Orson Scott Card had it all wrapped up. I was wrong! Ha ha, John C. Wright. Because I am a girl and find other girls attractive, I am comparable to someone who fucks goats! Hahahaha. I'll get right on that.

People have the right to say what they want, but they don't have the right for their words to have no consequences. As always in the great words of my progressive hero: I expect more.

Kseniya Simonova - Sand Animation PREPARE FOR TEARS?

In the next week I have plans to finish the edits on two reviews I have written, post those, edit 23,000 words of fanfiction and post that, finish the Nerds Heart YA stuff, then crawl somewhere and sleep until the 26th, which is the day I meet Debi and ruin all my good press (if I ever had any good press, that is).

Oh hey, also Zach held his diploma in his hands today which made me a little less angry at 2009.

...but only a little.

Grats to Zach. Sand animation is super cool. I have seen people do it the frame by frame way. It is craziness.

My favorite part was when he called everyone calling him on his bigotry a troll avalanche! Whoosh! I swear I am going to steal that phrase.

Though it is rage inducing, I do get the "I'm not a feminist, I just play one on TV" attitude. I was also once 15 and thinking "But I'm not a man-hating crazy lesbian". >:/ Which is pretty much why young girls are still not in the know re: feminism and it not being a giant vortex of suck.

WE'LL FIGURE IT OUT ONE OF THESE DAYS.

Yeah, but you were 15 and that Sara Zarr isn't. SHE COULD MAKE A DIFFERENCE. But no. :(

Haha, yeah, that was my point. I think the problem, a lot of times, is that people don't realize how much of a difference they can make. Also, she's wielding her humanist credentials like a shield. >:/

That's what I don't understand. Guys, it's not a shield, stop using it like one! Instead, try BLUDGEONING SOME DOUCHEBAGS with it. It makes them make funny noises and smoke!

You know me and my violent nature! >.>

I have been interested in John C. Wright's books now for a while. I am so sadly disappointed to see this kind of crap. What I had read of Orson Scott Card was good, and had looked forward to reading more. But it's hard to accept intolerance like that. I now have lost interest in both writers. They have the right to their own opinions, but they are going to lose readers because of their attitudes. I may still read the books that I have by Wright sitting around. But I certainly won't be purchasing any by him or Card again.
