He Likes It Like This (365 words)
Seifer, Zell, G/worksafe
Zell's fondness for his mother doesn't include sharing her with Seifer.

"Stop it," Zell muttered.

"I'm just sitting here, Chicken," Seifer replied, his legs stretched out in front of him in his chair, surveying the cafeteria.

"You're looking at me," Zell said. He glared a little for good measure. "I know when you look at me like that you're planning something, man. I know you."

Seifer laughed. "It's because you're so funny-looking. You should feel special, every time I look at you I get to laugh."

"You're an asshole," Zell swore, and shoved his chair back. "Why did you even sit down here if you were gonna drive me nuts, can't you ever just leave me alone?"

"Why else would I sit here?" Seifer asked calmly. "You're a constant source of entertainment."

Zell huffed and went back to his lunch. "What do you want?" he asked around a mouth full of hot dog.

Seifer grimaced at him. "You're disgusting. Swallow and then talk."

Zell rolled his eyes, but did as Seifer asked. "What do you want?"

Seifer smirked. "Remember the training mission we went on yesterday?"

"Yeah, I remember, because you totally screwed us over!" Zell said, getting angry just thinking about it. "Can't you ever, you know, follow instructions?"

"So we went to your house afterwards," Seifer commented lightly, ignoring Zell's question, "and your mom made me lunch and gave me a tour of the house."

Zell flushed. "Don't insult my Ma, man, I will punch you in the face." He had hated every moment of Seifer in his house and had refused to stay and watch the train wreck.

"Nice lady," Seifer finished. "She was glad you had such a great best friend."

Zell's flushed faded as he paled. "Best friend?"

Seifer nodded seriously. "She was real happy to meet me, too," Seifer winked as he stood, and Zell thought it looked a little malicious. "She invited me to dinner and everything."

"Dinner?" Zell echoed.

Seifer was all smiles. "Let her know I like my steak medium rare. See you at six, Dincht." He laughed at the expression on Zell's face and left him staring in horror.

That? Was a slice of awesome pie. I really, really love the characterization and the relationship between the two.

I already mentioned that I liked this one.

I really enjoy the childish way that Zell wants Seifer to stop looking at him. The banter is obviously quite good.

I do really feel like Zell's Mom is nice enough to take anyone in and be polite to them.

I'm highly amused that Seifer would allow Zell's Mom to think that he is Zell's best friend for nefarious purposes. I like the way he makes it clear he's goingto make himself a fixture in Zell's house and the way Zell is so horrified by this insinuation.
