It's been fabulous with you the last few months, and I'm glad of FFEX because it brought us closer (seriously, I would have never, ever said "goat fuckers" to you without it, I mean it) and I'm lucky to have met you, so here you go, Seifer/Irvine fic of questionable, self-edited quality. But it's filled with love and mantouching, okay? Okay!

The Art of Surprise (500 words)
Irvine/Seifer, PG/worksafe
Irvine gets a special birthday gift.

"Hey," Seifer said, raising himself onto his elbows. "They're gone."

Irvine nodded from his spot on the floor, flat on his back and eyes on his ceiling. "Pretty funny watching Quistis and Selphie practically carry Zell out the door."

Seifer smirked. "He can't hold much drink, can he?"

Irvine winked at Seifer, bumped his shoulder with his knee. "One to talk, aren't you? You haven't had a sip of anything alcoholic all night, of course we're all going to look like fools."

"You're allowed, it's your birthday." Seifer scooted up, pressed his back against the side of Irvine's bed as Irvine sat up, only a little dizzy. "Not that it's much different than any other day."

"They all got me gifts, you just give me verbal abuse." Irvine tried to sound annoyed, but Seifer's grin was ruining it. "What kind of partner are you, tearing down my self-esteem and confidence so cold-heartedly?"

"Right." Seifer gave him a serious look. "You want a gift?"

Irvine gave him a lopsided smile. "I just knew you had a sentimental heart. Hand it over." He held out his hand, expecting anything but what he got. He didn't have time to even be surprised before Seifer leaned forward, wrapped a hand around his neck to tug him forward and kiss him.

Irvine had watched Seifer all night, knew he hadn't knocked back anything but soft drinks and water the whole four hours the impromptu party had been going on. His mind tried to filter through the past few weeks since Squall had assigned Seifer on as a freelancer to help with the Lunar Cry monsters. He tried to recall if there had been hints to this anywhere, but all he came up with was Seifer's characteristic sarcasm, cutting wit and constant jabs at Irvine's battle prowess. As Seifer worked his knee between's Irvine's legs, he thought of the night they spent a week ago trapped in a cave hiding from a pack of Malboros. It would've been a nice theory, but Seifer hadn't shown any adverse effects to the poisons since.

He was still trying to figure it out when his back hit the floor again, and Seifer's free hand tugged at the buttons on his jeans. Irvine figured if Seifer had been poisoned it wouldn't manifest in him putting his tongue in Irvine's mouth. As it was, Irvine definitely wasn't going to complain. He lifted his hips and let Seifer tug his pants down, and came to the conclusion that Seifer was of sound mind and completely serious when he put his hand on Irvine's cock.

"Damn—Almasy, you've been keeping secrets." Irvine said it hoarsely into the air as Seifer licked his neck. "Wasted a hell of a lot of time holding out on me."

Seifer backed away and grinned at him, made him arch up with one quick stroke of his hand. "Bet none of the other crap you got will top this."

Irvine laughed. "You may have a point," he said, and tugged Seifer down to kiss him back.
