I do not talk about personal things much. This is not for any other reason than that my life, such as it is, is boring. As a rule I attempt to not be boring here (I feel I rarely succeed at this, but I do try!) I am breaking this rule! I disclaim all responsibility for any injuries sustained from passing out from boredom after choosing to read the following paragraphs.
My father called me when I was out of state. I have not spoken to him in years. He lefy my life in 2005 and that's his right (just like being a huge flaming asshole is his right, one he owns very well). He called to tell me he has Parkinson's, which is very timely. Call me when you're facing a debilitating disease that will impact your mobility, dad! Way to go.
Oh, well, Parkinson's, yet another disease in the grab bag of What Renay Will Probably Die/Suffer From For Many Years, which includes breast cancer and and heart disease and thyroid problems and blood pressure issues. When I was born I was very sick and I was a very sick kid and then when I had my tonsils out when I was six I got colds but that was about it. I am debating. Maybe I rolled some good dice and all this mess will just skip me? Maybe my tonsils were cursed and slicing them out was the necessary thing I had to do in order to reap he rewards of good health? Although I am probably canceling out the good stuff by working in retail/food service.
It's pretty pathetic that when your father calls and goes, "I have this disease and they think it's because of Agent Orange from when I went to Vietnam." your first thought is, "Dammit, this better not make my co-pay go up when I give family history." I am pretty heartless. I guess. I do care, distantly, and am very sad for him, but overall am more concerned about what this means for me and my future.
I am a classy lady.
