I do not talk about personal things much. This is not for any other reason than that my life, such as it is, is boring. As a rule I attempt to not be boring here (I feel I rarely succeed at this, but I do try!) I am breaking this rule! I disclaim all responsibility for any injuries sustained from passing out from boredom after choosing to read the following paragraphs.

My father called me when I was out of state. I have not spoken to him in years. He lefy my life in 2005 and that's his right (just like being a huge flaming asshole is his right, one he owns very well). He called to tell me he has Parkinson's, which is very timely. Call me when you're facing a debilitating disease that will impact your mobility, dad! Way to go.

Oh, well, Parkinson's, yet another disease in the grab bag of What Renay Will Probably Die/Suffer From For Many Years, which includes breast cancer and and heart disease and thyroid problems and blood pressure issues. When I was born I was very sick and I was a very sick kid and then when I had my tonsils out when I was six I got colds but that was about it. I am debating. Maybe I rolled some good dice and all this mess will just skip me? Maybe my tonsils were cursed and slicing them out was the necessary thing I had to do in order to reap he rewards of good health? Although I am probably canceling out the good stuff by working in retail/food service.

It's pretty pathetic that when your father calls and goes, "I have this disease and they think it's because of Agent Orange from when I went to Vietnam." your first thought is, "Dammit, this better not make my co-pay go up when I give family history." I am pretty heartless. I guess. I do care, distantly, and am very sad for him, but overall am more concerned about what this means for me and my future.

I am a classy lady.
41 sign ups for the exchange! (42 when I finish writing out my prompts, A+ for last minute sign ups!). I am excited because I was a little worried that the move to AO3 was going to cause problems, but man, once we hit our 40th person I went \o/ and stayed there. Although, I wouldn't mind if more FFXIII fans came around. *g* I know there are people who have blasted through the game out there dying to create some sexy fanwork! :D

My Spring Break wasn't very relaxing, all told, but I did finish a bunch of reading, get started on an essay (which I am now stuck on and must go to my professor for help two days before it's due, har) and submitted my ILL requests for my final paper (which is basically my Northanger Abbey essay that I posted mined and expanded with bigger thoughts and more Catherine. Hopefully they will start pouring in sooner rather than later — I have seven pending — and I can get going on my annotated bibliography.

Registration for fall starts this next week and I am getting my hold removed immediately on Monday so I can register, but I am having some second thoughts about my Chinese class. :( Indecision Fall 2010! )

On top of everything else I am having relationship issues. It's pretty depressing and has me in a super weird funk, grouchy to everyone and unsure. Uncertainty in relationships is the one thing that leaves me a total emotional wreck. On the plus side, my work drama is over and done and I am in the clear. Which is pretty vague, I know! But I feel the need to celebrate it, since it means I will be able to pay my bills for the foreseeable future. <3

Now I have to go read Everyman which is pretty miserable. I'm sorry, morality play! I just don't like you that much.
1. It is cold. And rainy-wet. And cold, did I mention the cold? Because it's cold. Yesterday they were calling for a 70% chance of snow on Monday, but it's changed to rain and snow, and only a 60% chance. I am glad. ._.

2. I went to the library. This was a terrible idea considering how many works by dead white guys I have finish over the weekend and also because it is cold. This is what I got, although to be fair I've had Leviathan since my last visit. [personal profile] zachariah read it and said it was good. I am about 25 pages in.

I'm well into Blankets, although I missed the Christianity aspect when I read the reviews going around. It changes my perspective a little bit. We'll see!

3. WARNING! EXTREME WHINE AHEAD! Read more... )

4. Final Fantasy Kiss Battle has arrived! We're switching things around a little so all prompts are equal, so from now until the 12th, feel free to drop by and leave prompts. Sev and I will connect them with references to their home comment and post the master list on 2/14 and the fanwork can commence! I have already placed my bets on the winner. XD

5. I am going to curl up under a warm quilt and read irresponsible things before I have to go make coffee for five hours. I believe there's a hazelnut mocha with extra syrup in my future, because seriously, it is cold. Maybe that will make up for having to go out in it.
